Matthew McGinn, '27
President
Matthew has been an SLP member since 2023. He served as THON Explorers Chair from 2024-2025 and as the 2025-2026 Recruitment Director. He now serves as President of Science LionPride. He is a Schreyer Honors Scholar studying Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a minor in sociology. Matthew researches the NS1 nonstructural protein in Zika virus in the Jose Lab of molecular virology. After graduating with his bachelor’s, Matthew plans to attend an MD-PhD program to conduct research on neglected tropical diseases and social determinants of infectious disease.

Hailey Corey, '28
Vice President
Hailey has been a member of SLP since 2024. She served as the 2025-2026 Treasurer and is now the 2026-2027 Vice President. She is a Schreyer Honors Scholar pursuing a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a minor in Nutritional Sciences. Hailey is a Lead Learning Assistant for MATH 22, researches axonal microtubule dynamics in the Rolls Lab, volunteers at Mount Nittany Hospital, and works as a Medical Assistant in Geisinger clinics. She has been a THON volunteer for three years now, and has served as a Captain on the Special Events Committee for two years. After earning her bachelor’s degree, Hailey plans to attend medical school and pursue a career in oncology or sports medicine.

Matthew Roth, '27
Secretary
Matthew has been a member of SLP since 2023. He served as the 2024-2025 Treasurer and is now the 2026-2027 Secretary. He is studying Biology on the Genetics and Development track and minoring in Biochemistry. He is a Teaching Assistant for the First-Year Research Initiate (FRI) Lab that helps gives first-year students research experience. He is a part of the Hines Lab, where he researches the effects of different stressors on the Heat Shock Protein on native Pennsylvania bumblebees. After attaining his bachelor degree, Matthew plans on going to Grad School to get a PhD in conservation genetics to see the effects of different stressors has on animals and their environment.

Ellie Morris, '29
Treasurer
Ellie has been a member of SLP since 2025 and is currently serving as the 2026-2027 Treasurer. She is studying Forensic Science with a focus on Chemistry and minoring in Chemistry. She is a Learning Assistant for the second general chemistry course and also works as a chemistry exam proctor. After graduating, she hopes to work as a Forensic Chemist, analyzing substances and evidence from crime scenes and later obtain her master’s in a field of forensic chemistry.

John Downing, '27
Alumni and Outreach Director
John has been an SLP member since 2023 and is now serving as the 2026-2027 Alumni & Outreach Director. He is studying Integrative Science on the Pre-Health track. He is currently working as a Program Assistant for the First Year in Science and Engineering Living Learning Community. He has previously worked as a Physical Therapist Aide and Resident Assistant. After graduating, he plans to attend a Doctor of Physical Therapy program to pursue a career as a Physical Therapist.

Jackie Fassbender, '28
Recruitment Director
Jackie has been a member of SLP since 2024. She served as the THON Explorers Chair from 2025-2026 and is now serving as the Recruitment Chair. She is a Balog and Schreyer Scholar in the BS/MBA program with a concurrent major in Philosophy. She has also served as a Learning Assistant for Math and Chemistry courses. Jackie is also in the Presidential Leadership Academy. In addition, she is an undergraduate research assistant in the Anthropological Genomics Lab where she researches how tapeworms respond to hear stress as a way to track human co-evolution. She has studied abroad in Ireland. And in the future after completing her MBA, hopes to combine the fields of business and science together.
Jonathan Weinstein, '27
THON Primary Chair
Jonathan has been a member of SLP since 2023. He served as the THON Fundraising/Finance Chair for the 2025-2026 school year and is now serving as the THON Primary Chair. He is a Braddock Scholar and a Schreyer Honors Scholar majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology with minors in chemistry and business. He has worked at an industry biotech company and the University of Pennsylvania performing cancer research. He is an independent research project lead in the Hedglin Lab studying post-translational modifications of key proteins within the homologous recombination pathway, which is commonly mutated in cancer. After graduation, he hopes to pursue a PhD in biochemistry and continue researching potential therapies for cancer.
Sydney Yeh, '28
Engagement Director
Sydney has been an SLP member since 2025 and is now serving as the 2026-2027 Engagement Director. She is studying Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a minor in Crime, Law, and Psychology. Sydney also serves as the Alternative Fundraising Chair for Pillar Benefitting THON and is an active member of Delta Gamma. She is an undergraduate research lab assistant in Dr. Ristenbatt’s Forensic Science Lab focusing on blood droplet velocities at varying heights, angles and on surfaces. After graduation, Sydney plans on attending graduate school and pursue a career in Forensic Science.
